Happy Long Weekend for those here in BC!! I wish the weather was a bit better, but otherwise I am so looking forward to a great relaxing weekend with just family time and scrapbook time!!!
This week, I chose to play with forgotten and overlooked tools and mediums. Just everyday creative stuff, that most scrappers have. And if you don't, you can get them SO cheap now, as they are 'overlooked and forgotten'.
Paint and Foam Stamps.
I know I have a few, okay more than a few! lol And I have had some for sale forever and they always get overlooked by not only buyers, but by me. So I pulled them out and got to playing.
This first page was created using Making Memories Summer Foam Stamps and a variety of paints. I beleive I traded these stamps for other product a while ago, but I know you can find foam stamp sets for $5.00 now!! Great affordable re-usable tools!
I foam stamped the sunshine in yellow and in orange. I cut out the yellow one and added some stickles. Then I only cut out the orange triangle pieces and pop dotted them from the orange sun. ( I stamped these under my main photo mat, so I would have the same paper) I also stamped the word 'splash' and outlined it in white gel pen. And I stamped the wave; I did two and overlapped them a bit. The title word 'fish' was painted and I ran my brush along the edge of the layout with the blue paint too.
Supplies: Scenic Route, Ranger Stickles, Heidi Swapp, Making Memories, Stampin Up
For the next layout I used Making Memories foam stamp set 'patterns'. I foam stamped the white dots. Then I took my circle punch and punched out little snowflakes, added some stickles and put those randomly on a few white dots. One of my other favourite meduims is crackle paint. I painted the Maya Road snowflakes with blue, then applied a generous amount of regular white glue. Using the white glue enhances the 'crackle' effect. When the glue was dry, I applied white crackle paint and let dry. I love the look of crackled paint!!
Supplies: Basic Grey, Maya Road, Ranger Crackle Paint, Making Memories, Fiskars, Stampin Up
And for my last example, I used the Ranger paint dabbers. If you like to paint, but don't want the mess to clean up, these are the way to go!!! I searched my recycle bin for a nice big piece of cardboard, traced my shape and cut it out. I glued down my paper then ripped the paper and top layer of the cardboard to reveal the cardboard bumps underneath. I love texture, and cardboard adds amazing texture!! Once I had ripped just where I wanted it, I used the Ranger Paint Dabber and painted away!! Because my photos were so dark, I also distressed the paper to tone it down.
So go search your recyle bin and pull out the paints and supplies and have fun!!
